Thanks Robyn Reid for your acknowledgement of the CASS committee. As a member of that committee I have
derived great pleasure being part of a group of artists who intially set up the Combined Art Societies of
Sydney back in 1989. To 'front up' to the Sydney Opera House all those years ago with several other
artists, and ask if we could hire the Reception Hall for an art show (even though the CASS did not have
any money) was bold and exciting. What was more exciting was the Funcion Manager's affirmative response -
along with the words 'your can pay me later - after the show!'
That was the beginning of the CASS and the terrific times those of us on the committee have had.
Running the Art of Sydney Exhibition and Art in Action has been very reqwarding, as well as meeting
well-known, top artists from all over the Australia and New Zealand - it has been a fabulous time. I do
commend life on the CASS committee to all artists who are members of this Combined group of Sydney Art
Societies, I have had a great time working with artists from all over Sydney, and futher afield. The
2012 Art of Sydney Exhibition is about to commence - it runs from 26th to 29th January at the National
Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour. If you have an avenue by which you can promote the show please feel
free to do so, (Thanks again, Robyn Reid) Cheers, Shirley |

Following Sadhana's enquiry, I visited each of the CASS Member Societies webpages. All except St George
and Oatley101 have NO or very scant mention of CASS or Art of Sydney Exhibition or Art in Action.
How unfortunate for their members who are participating in this Wonderful Annual Centrally located City
venue. The Success of which stems a lot from Word Of Mouth of members spreading the word to their
contacts.
So how about it CASS Member Societies get your websites to have a permanent Item for CASS activities.
Like Art of Sydney and Art in Action in May.
CASS = Combined Art Societies of Sydney currently being 11 member Societies who's members are
automatically members of CASS.
As usual, I'm having a blast, opening my big mouth, but no apology, it just frustrates me when I see how
much work the CASS Committee selflessly put in 13 months each year for the benefit of us Members. More
power to you all. Regards Robyn (big mouth) Reid :-0 |

Hi
I am new to Combined art societies as a member of KAS. My painting is selected for exhibition and I am
really excited as this was my first entry and it has been selected.
However, I cannot see any mention of the exhibition on the Maritime Museum site. I was hoping to spread
the word and the link-but am lost. If anyone can guide me to some public site please send it to me. The
link to this may not be a good idea as it doesn't mention the free entry on the rest of the days
Regards
Sadhana |

Yep, I was there too at Art in Action as a tutor. The girls on the committee are incredible and deserve
the highest praise.
My classes were filled with lovely people who produced some very competent paintings. An inspiring and
very satisfying weekend. This is my eleventh year tutoring at Art in Action and every year gets better. |

G'day CASS AnA Committee. Congratulations on a FANTASTIC Art in Action 2011. The Event this year seemed
the best of my 4-5 year experience. Very relaxed feeling throughout, Great Tutors, great camaraderie. I
think everyone talked to everyone else. Wonderful Sat night Entertainment too, what a hoot, you can hire
that group again! NOW the food, just great, a good variety, enjoyable, tasty, hot and cold, Thanks again
